Don't live the American dream. Live your dream.

No socks day

I declare today to be no socks day.

In my Flordian observations, I’ve noticed a distinct lack of socks.
This is the land of year-long flip-flops and sandals.   Socks are expressly forbidden.

They’re not found on the feet of those who were the painful to look at high heel sandals of those who visit the mall.   Socks are not found being wore by the people who walk miles a day in well used Dollar Tree flip-flops.  I’m rather surprised that socks are sold as much as they are down here since the society is definitely anti-tube.

I am on the pro-sock ticket.
Flip flops do not look healthy or comfortable.  And, even in my younger years,  I never wore anything with an extremely high heel.  When I did wear something like that, it was usually a clog and… yes… some sort of fabric covered my feet.

Today is a little different.
Multiple weather agencies have agreed that there’s at least a 70% chance for rain.   The sky is dark right now and comfortably rumbling with thunder.  Cue the rain.

So, I’m not going to go outside and do my bike-riding and/or visit the gym.
I’m here, drinking hot chocolate, and trying to decide which part of the house should be disinfected first.    I was a good person and did all of my homework, although I’ll check again later.   I always do.   I even prepped my class for next term.   That starts in a couple of week when my current batch are ushered out kicking and screaming.

Okay, well, not all of them, but some.  Those ware the ones who aren’t passing or feel insulted by the grade they earned… but whatever.   The last day is the last day.    Slice.

Accompanying me on my housecleaning odyssey will be one ancient and tan pair of Crocs.    I’ve think I’ve had them for five plus years, but I really can’t tell.   Crocs are pretty timeless.  They are not flip flops and have a low heel.    My toes are exposed to the artificially cool air, courtesy of whatever brand machine Sears installed outside.

Sometimes, it takes a force of nature to keep me in.    It’s either that or the cat had a word with the Big Man to keep me here to spray around some catnip.   One or the other.  Or both.

Either way, happy bleach the house without socks day.
