Some three weeks ago, it finally happened.
My beloved Mustang was sent to the scrap heap and we finally, sort of, acquired a new car. It’s a lease, actually, but a welcome one.
My mustang’s convertible top didn’t move, the windows didn’t go down, and the air conditioner was shot. She shimmed when she went over 30 miles an hour and had to be parked in the shade. If the old lady got to hot sitting in the sun, she’d refuse to move.
Loved that car, but it’s just a car. Personification is something people develop. And, no matter how much we wish, it just isn’t true. … It hurts me to type that. Let’s just do what grown-ups do… it went to a ‘better place.’ Or, maybe, the mustang will be saved from the junk heap and totally redone like what happened in that Disney cartoon. I’d be all right with that.
The Zoom Zoom is different. It has air conditioning, which is a small miracle in Florida. It’s got safety flashy things all over and a rear camera, so it’s supposed to be safer to drive than the mustang. That doesn’t explain why the car insurance went up, thank you Geico, but whatever. Done is done. I’ll just have to tighten the belt a notch or two more.
What makes this a win is that it’s a step, hopefully, in the right direction.
It’s something new. Zoom Zoom is an outward symbol of some sort of personal progress. It’s something…. just something… after 15 plus years of being outwardly financially stagnant.
Sure, a lot of stuff had to be juggled to make room for a car payment. We had to have a lot of help… and will still continue to need a lot of help. So… maybe the Zoom Zoom is a symbol of that too.
Either way, I consider I a positive. A win.
Besides, it’s kind of annoyingly cute the way freaked out for having bird blessings on the windshield after an evening class.
I think he’s kind of proud of it.
He’s wanted a Zoom Zoom for years. When it came time, that’s what he got – without help to make the down payment or pass the credit check.
That’s awesome.
Things could be worse, even at the bottom of a pit.
