Hey lolly lolly, a new term started.
I’m monitoring ENGL102, which is a basic class, one step up from very basic, but students are required to take it. It’s a small paycheck, but it’s a paycheck.
A while back, this college started to attach co-instructors to the basic classes. At first, I wasn’t overly thrilled. I think I have some sort of OCD when it comes to how things are graded and my class is run, but I kind of got over it when I figured out that I didn’t have to do so much work.
— For the most part, the people I’ve been partnered with have been sub-par… which was only one… to okay, which is the majority, with a couple being stellar. This time, I’ve paired with JL, who has limited experience with other colleges and this is her first semester with mine.
I’ve been in a noob position at work multiple times.
Some part of me will be an eternal noob and I’m okay with that.
I understand the situation and the feeling.
JL… she is either overly cautious, lazy, or just doesn’t want to do anything without prior approval and seven Hermes stamps. If a student asks a question, she doesn’t answer it although she is active in Blackboard. Every single one of her email to me start with Yes ma’am and have generous amounts of exclamation marks — which I find annoying as heck. I feel like I have to poke her with a hot iron to grade anything and she’s already indicated that she’s going to model (copy) my grading comments when she does her own.
Man… don’t let me catch her plagiarizing me. That’s a pay-per-view fight right there.
I don’t think I was ever that noobish.
If I’m ‘training’ her, another service that doesn’t add to the paycheck, I’ll be stuck with JL for at least two or three terms. That also means basic classes. Yay.
I don’t know. I’m sure she’ll get better and I’ll stop grinding my teeth over the ‘Yes ma’am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” It’s just going to take some time. We’re all noob at heart. Right?
I think I’m going to binge watch something now.
Maybe Black Clover… I’m about two months behind on that anime.
Peace.
