Well, I still pretty much feel like crap on a crap shingle.
Yesterday was particularly rough.
By about nine p.m, I was shivering and sweating buckets. I wasn’t really sleeping, but more unconscious. When I woke, which was frequently, it was to drink what felt like a liter of water, soda, tea… just anything I could find. It didn’t have to be cold – just wet.
I know it might sound strange — sweating and shivering — but when I’ve fought off something bad in the past, that’s the way my body reacts, rather it be an illness or otherwise.
That one time when I was in the hospital for my robotic part, I had lost so much blood that they tried to give me a blood infusion. I violently reject it… shivering.. sweats.. feeling like I was tapdancing on Satan’s furnace.
——– Funny thing about that —
That was my own blood. Two months leading up to the surgery, I faithfully went to the hospital to be tapped once a week. I strongly dislike needles and it wasn’t the ideal situation, but I was in high school at the time and was pulled out of last period every Friday.
— Every Friday — which was speech class — so I didn’t have to give any speeches.
Not too sure how I passed when I dodged the main requirement – and the final – to give blood for myself, but I did. I might have given a total of three speeches during the entire four or five-month term.
So, yes, my own blood about killed me. Literally. I find it funny to this day and probably will for the rest of my life.
Another instance was when Jason and I were in Orlando participating in an Ingress event. There, my crazy was completely on display for some kind-hearted strangers. It really freaked out Jason too…
Anyway – back on track –
crap – crap shingle – Yep, that’s me.
But, no worries, mom sent me to the doctor for a quick checkup. My ears and nose look fine. Heartbeat fine. Blood pressure fine. Everything looks good. I don’t have tonsilitis – which is what I personally thought – but I’m good.
The nurse practitioner said it ‘looks like’ strep throat. I’m not too sure what she meant by ‘looks like.’ Strep throat is pretty common this time of year. I either have it or I don’t, but she insisted that’s what it ‘looks like’ when I pressed her to be more specific.
I got the toss-a-way remedy. Ten days of antibiotics. One white pill, three times a day. No warning to take it easy (as if) or to avoid certain foods. Nothing like that.
The last few lines could be summed up as:
“Thank you, come again.”
Yeah, whatever. As long as the pills do their job. This shivering/sweating thing gets on my nerves and I got stuff to do, you know. Like today, I’m supposed to go to the gym with my bro and then spend three or four hours in 34-degree weather catching digital monsters that don’t really exist.
That’s okay. I’m not contagious and I’ve caught lots of non-existent digital monsters but I have a feeling that I’m going to have a nice shivering/sweating session when we come home.
….. Brother says it’s time to leave right about now, so, now I got to go.
Wish me luck and warm wishes.
