You have walked 359% over your daily walking goal.

Thank you Samsung Health.  My legs are still working, so let’s see if I can go for 400%.
Didn’t quite make it, but got close.

Sunday – Indy Indiana – Wizards Unite.
The first anomaly of the new Harry Potter game that was introduced some…. three or four months ago.

White River Park was divided into four sections.

I had Care of Magical Creatures, Sports, Dark Arts, and 9 3/4.  Personally, I was hoping for a representation of all the areas, but the park is only so big.  Also, from a business standpoint, I guess it wouldn’t have been good to have all of the areas.   If they did, I may have just ran around and try to get all of the severes as possible… which I eventually did anyway.

We were provided five quests.  The second of which was really friggen long.   It involved some mini-tasks to ‘prove our worth’ and based on each of the Hogwart Houses.  I didn’t mind this part, but I heard a lot of passing complaints about walking 2k, which was one of the Hufflepuff requirements.

I don’t think the quests were created to be a pain, but to make everyone move into each of the areas instead of just camping in one area — which some people eventually did.  I met this couple who chilled in the Dark Arts area for three hours.    Each to his own I guess.

After we were qualified to be respected by dragons…  like a human would know what to expect.   There’s a lot of flaws in that…  there was an endcap from the infamous Rita Skeeter.  For exp, there were three small requirements that could be answered prettily easily.

That was the main gist… for the muggles.

As I am not a muggle, I had an agenda:

–  Complete the quest
——–  Which was pretty well, but little sister was with me.   I was moving a lot slower then what I wanted to in the 70 degree morning hours.  It gets hotter as the day goes on, so I just wanted to blast it out.   I didn’t get to… but hanging with the little sister is more important.   I had to help her with some of it.

– Dragons
———-  Ultimate goal was to prestige each of the dragon pages at least twice — which I did by the skin of my teeth.     PITA.   Got it, but pain in the a$$.

–  Collect as many severes and emergencies as possible.
I’m pretty satisfied with that outcome.

–  Stretch goal –
Prestige a non-oddity page.
I did.   I got the blue star one… what’s it called.  I don’t know off-hand.   I’m a but burnt out on the game right now, but it’s the page with the ogre music box and the $*#%)$ harp.

———
Overall, I feel that I was successful, but I think I could have done a lot more if I was flying solo.  Again, that’s okay, but for a player, this was a great opportunity to really cash in.   There were tons of inns which provided a default 10 energy, tons of people to battle with, and the whole place was dark detectored.  Niantic even set up some inns just for the event to help make sure every section had at least three inns.

I learned really really really quickly that I didn’t need an ex potion to catch the harder stuff.    Thank goodness.   I think I started with around 25, but after catching Hagarid with on cast I stopped using and more than replenished the ones I used with drops off the foundables.

No worries there, but I think I might have been in the minority in that situation.   In passing, I heard the clink of potions being used all day.  I’m also pretty sure I was one top five highest level wizards or witches in the park.   Gloating a bit…  ha ha.

One stumbling block was the impending rain that never happened.   The park had to be evacuated.  I think it was right around noon.  Maybe a little later.
No one was leaving, so they killed all of the spawns in the park and removed the quest from the game.  Sister insisted on going to Circle Center via Uber for lunch — I would have been okay walking, but her feet were starting to hurt.

Just as soon as we got our Cajun Grill, we got a notice to head back, which we did as soon as possible.  I felt like we were being jerked around a bit.   I understand.   Weather, blah blah blah. but it didn’t rain.

Rather, it sprinkled just enough to make the hours between 2 to 6 humid as all heck.  By that time, I started a circuit taking me through all of the areas.  A couple of times, I actually sat down to cool off.

Yes, I know that’s normal, but I’m not normal, but I was pushing myself.   I had guessed that the dragons were on a fifteen-minute timer or so.  The goal was to go into each section of the park searching for what I wanted and picking up dragon eggs along the way.     Even if I didn’t need them, I picked them up anyway in case they were a placeholder for anything — which, they probably wasn’t, but that’s how my brain is wired concerning these games — and I thought it’d be easy pick ups that might contribute to the achievement thing.

Notables –

Some of the foundables were produced in life-size replicates.  I took a couple of pictures, but they where cheaply put together.   The plum tree was standing up with super glue and duct tape.
——-   Again, I kind of understand.   The event was two days and a lot of peeps wanted their pictures taken with these thing.  From True Dungeon, it’s easier to duct something than to really do a nice job.  Still, it was a bit disappointing.

—  The sports section was right on the other side of the state museum.   Around three or so, someone was getting married over there and the music was turned really low.   Which I understand, but was a pain.   Although the music was on a loop, I hadn’t grown tired of it yet.

But— some of the gamers kind of got revenge.   There’s a monument close by commemorating those who earned medals of honor in wars.   If you pressed a button, a recording started telling about each of the heroes stories.    There was a group over there continually pressing buttons.   I think it interrupted the marriage a bit.  =)
For the record, I didn’t press the buttons.   Other players did.

—  There was a n0obie manning the mike.  Every once in a while, there was a general announcement that could be heard everywhere in the park.  In earnest, the guy tried to start the announcement with:

Attention all wizards and witches….

It came out as:

Attention all wizards and bitc— bi… witches….

I couldn’t help smile at his goof.  I don’t know if anyone around me caught it, but the guy didn’t saw wizards and witches again for the rest of the day.

So… this is the short version.   There’s a couple of things I’m leaving out, but not much.
