Don't live the American dream. Live your dream.

1/28 — Thinking/ramble

Okay.
I’m thinking of an idea and I don’t know if it’ll come out right.    This is definitely rambling while I freewrite and try piece this together.

Politics have been huge.   Like huge huge, but it wasn’t always this way.  We have the left and the right.

At one point… like back in the 60s, liberals were anti-government and anti-war.   Hippies, blah, blah, blah.  They craved peace.   I think it was mostly music, drugs, and sex, but peace can cover all of those things.

But, there was a notable bad guy –  Russia and, more generalized, Communism.

Communism was more than just a bad guy.   It stealthily disguised itself among the politicians and business people of the day.    Sure, I think the Red Scare really didn’t pan out, but it kind of united America.  We were united by fear… that our government and way of life would become communistic.

Back in the day, Americans even went so far to add “in God we trust” on the money.
Credit cards were a luxury.   Everyone carried money.   Every day, rather on coins or bills, we were reminded “in God we trust” because America is popularized to be founded on Christian values.

America = Capitalism = God
it would stand to reason
Russia = Communism = Satan

Somewhat logical, right?

Fast forward till today.

People tend not to carry money around a whole lot so the subliminal reminder of in God we trust isn’t as prevalent as it used to be.   America has become more diverse and accepting (in some areas) of different religions and beliefs.

Some of the oldest and most widely accepted religions have been lying and hiding stuff for years.     I’m specifically thinking of various church embezzlements and child sex abuse.

That has left society a bit scattered.   The things that we put our trust in the past aren’t as solid as they seem.

Trying to bring this thought back around….

Nancy Pelosi…   Bernie Sanders… Hillary Clinton…  Elizabeth Warren….

They were all born in the 40s, which means they were young adults during the 1960s.
They may or may not have identified with the general 1960s feel-good movements, but they lived through it.  At some point, they may have identified with the liberals of that time.

But… as grow older, they tend to become conservative.
It may not be fully blown conservative but with life experience, they change.   People change.   Case in point – Trump started as a Democrat.   Not so much now.

Maybe the current group of Democratic hopefuls and leaders want to cling to their youth.    They want to be called liberal.  They’re being true to the label but not to the spirit as they connect to socialism or communism in some way, shape, or form.

They’ve become the boogie men (and women) that they grew being afraid of.
However, they can’t admit it because they’re the ‘good guys’ and against the “establishment.”

For them, the equation reworks a bit.

Russia = Communism = Satan
—  I don’t think that’s changed.

But

America = Communism = God

seems to be the new model.

But only if God doesn’t offend.
God has become more of a propaganda piece than a guiding principle.

So… are all of these people sleeper agents from the 60s?
Was the Red Scare actually something and no one caught on until the time was just right for these and other people to rise through the ranks?   Or maybe they are brainwashed by some super-secret experiment to cause political upheaval after so many years.

They came out when the heat is off…  still professing to be liberals, but a new type of liberal that wants big government and lots of taxes.  … quite unlike the 1960s liberal.

This is just something that’s been rattling around in my head all day.   I probably didn’t state it quite right, but I’m freewriting.

That’s okay.
It’s not supposed to make sense.

I’m trying to connect the dots.
