I’m getting a little more cabin-fevery-ish.
First day, I was sick.
Second day, mostly better.
Third – better still, but Jason became ill.
Fourth — pretty sure I’m fine but Jason is on the upswing.
Being the adults we are, we’re having sick days that almost any child would be envious of. — Days of playing video games. Well, he’s playing. I’m advising from a walkthrough, keeping an eye on grading, and occasionally taking a nap.
It’s a tough world.
Maybe this is a little bit of payback for all those times we were actually ill and our parents sent us to school anyway. Maybe?
Since he finished FF Episode Ardyn, we’ve moved on to God of War 4.
I like the God of War series. In particular, I like Kratos. I never really seen myself going for bald, but he is definitely an exception. Not only is he built, but he has a plain way of expression and intelligence. If he needs a bridge, knock over an ancient pillar.
Engineering degree not needed.
That’s kind of in line with my own type of intelligence.
Details are great and all, but those are for other people.
In this one, Kratos is a fairly uncompromising father to a young, intelligent, sarcastic, troubled child.
Last night, I found their interactions interesting and made me reflect on my relationship with my dad. I had to wonder if Kratos would have been a better parent. Sure, he doesn’t say much and criticizes the boy, but also is very protective and patient.
My dad would have bit my head off multiple times over questions and random remarks. Kratos is really patient in comparison.
Watching Jason play today, I wonder if Kratos would make a better parent than I would. The boy’s questions are starting to grate. I think they are on Kratos as well but he keeps his tone fairly neutral. I don’t know if I’d have that type of control.
The dreaded “just because” with a look would eventually become my default.
Still, there’s a lot of tension. The boy has had it rough and Kratos isn’t exactly the most communicative type of person. He’s definitely not going to win any parenting of the year awards, but he keeps trying – just like everything else in his life.
Kratos will keep trying until he forces his way through.
Details and subtlety tend to go hand and hand.
Anyways… I might be back.
I am pretty curious about the wife. Faye or Faith I think her name is.
She intentionally exposed her son and Kratos to harm by taking down the protective barrier. She could read, hunt, and was a famed warrior. Faye was rough, refined, and patient enough to handle Kratos. So much so that she turned him into some sort of responsible parent. Kratos would also have to regard her as an equal since she was his life partner.
– I got this thing for people being equal in relationships.
To be really accepted and understood, the other person should equate to the same. Same effort. Same devotion. Same goals.
Unfortunately, these don’t all line up at once.
There’s got to be a compromise.
Or, at least that’s how I see it so far.
There’s still a lot of game to go.
Course, I can’t help wondering if I’ll see him finish the game.
I leave in roughly three weeks.
Between work and everything, he doesn’t get a lot of time to play as he likes.
Sick days are kind of a special exception, sort of.
