Don't live the American dream. Live your dream.

“The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it.

Article One, Section 9, Clause 2.
–  U.S. Constitution.

As far as I know, this has never ever been invoked.  Well, invoked in the continental 48.
I think that says a lot.

America was founded in 1776.
That’s some 243 or 244 years.   I guess it depends on when you read this.

Almost 250 years… through the Great Depression, through 9/11, through San Fran Earthquake, through Hurricane Katrina…

It wasn’t invoked when the nature of AIDS was unknown.   Not during the H1N1 outbreak.  Not during the various flu pandemics.

Why is martial law such a close possibility now?

Because people are stupid.
That’s my current answer.

The media is hyping the coronavirus to an outstanding level.   You’d think it’s the zombie Walking Dead scenario.   They’re invoking fear and hitting all levels, from the old to the young and everyone in between.    The old will die.  The young will develop scar tissue that will change their lives for the worse.   Everyone in the middle will either suffer horribly or be asymptomatic.

Going outside makes you a mass murderer.

Well, then  I must have killed at least a million.   Just today, I went to the park for about an hour.  Although I didn’t come within six feet of anyone and no one came that close to me, I should be murdered or have killed at least the dozen or so people who passed me on the trail.

Course, somehow this doesn’t apply to people in grocery stores, farmer’s markets, or other ‘essential’ outings.  Essential is, of course, defined by the local or state government.

While they’ve been pretty smart about this since people have been allowed to go to the grocery store, apparently the virus becomes really active after eight o’clock.  Eight is the magic number and the magic number shall be eight.

Other than that, everything is okay.

It’s okay to use the same germ-ridden keypad everyone else used to pay since cash is to dirty.  Got to go to the bathroom?  Sure.  Use the same toilet as everyone else.   But, that’s okay as long as hands are washed.  That seems to be the magical ward.  Need to open a freezer door to get milk?   Welp, better hope that the hundred people before you washed their hands.

Washing hands for at least twenty seconds will keep people from gaining the coronavirus but only if it’s before eight.   Because after eight, everyone is safe.

I’m not quite following the logic.
But, there isn’t any logic.   We’ve suffered pandemics before, but not one that’s so popularized and politicalized.

The Democrats have seen this as a way to remake America.   They want to use this issue and people’s fear to put solar panels on airplanes, ban concrete, and make the Green New Deal a reality.  —  Authored by someone who thinks farts of animals, a natural bodily function, to be environmentally damaging.  (Even if that’s true, I bet she still farts.  Talk about hypocrisy.)

The Democrats don’t have to agree with the Republics. I don’t expect them to.   Not all the time.   That’s why they’re different.   Conflict leads to creation.

But, it is ethically immoral to withhold aid and disagree just to make the other side look bad.   They’re supposed to be there for the good of the people – not the good of themselves.

Politicians, theoretically, are supposed to guide the country.  They have the trust of the people, through voting, that they will do the right thing.

No.   Money.  Corruption.  The feeling of power.   Feeling like they’re God.   Group mindset.   All of this sets in.    We see it in doctors, police… just about any position that is traditionally some sort of authority figure for the mass populous.     It doesn’t affect all of them the same.   There are good ones in the batch, but the longer they hold a position of respect, the worse they become.

Look, I really don’t know where I’m going with this.
I think there has been so many mistakes on both sides.   That’s to be expected.   That comes with conflict.   That’s how we learn.

But promoting unrelated agendas when everyone should be pulling together is simply disgusting.

The suffering and financial pain of those who ** trusted them ** don’t mean anything compared to closing the coal mines.

That is a separate issue.

They’re holding everyone – millions of people – hostage and deliberately causing distress.

It’s just amazing.   Simply amazing.
And sad.

But, I’m going to keep going to the park.   Murdered or mass murderer.
