Well, today has been kind of a waste.
After going with baby brother to his doctor’s appointment this morning (no masks required), I came home. Worked a bit. Caught up on my games. Took a couple hour nap Watched some cold openings of the BB99 (?) on Youtube and read Quora for about an hour or so.
That is literally all I’ve done.
Now, I’m eating a warmed up can of chicken noodle.
No walking. No real work. Nothing.
Geez this is weird.
I’ve thought about writing something all day.
A story about a man in love with a corpse fluttered through my head. A short story about a woman who is always waiting on the man also seemed appealing, but neither materialized.
Course, if I actually started to freewrite about them, they may have come out to play. Instead, I read about how some people think Julius Cesar was infertile and how Russians raped women when they invaded Germany.
I feel a lot more informed about things, although none of it was cited and probably mostly false or, at least, biased. But, it was an interesting read.
I guess it’s kind of a blank day.
That’s all right, right?
Anyway, most of the stuff I read on Quora was about people harming other people. Russians. Japanese. Germans. Americans. Romans. Egyptians. You name it. Times of war or social distress and uncertainty bring out the worst in people.
It’s part of our genetic DNA or something.
People can be monsters.
But, in a way, isn’t that what religion is for?
If we’re not good, we’re going to spend eternity in damnation. That’s how some religions go… not all, but some.
So, if all of these bad people who lynched African Americans and raped little girls are dead and gone, they should be serving out their punishment in whatever ring of Hell that fits their crime.
That would be the reparation for the wrongs done.
Strong believers in the faith wouldn’t think that reparation for past tragedies are needed because God handles all that.
We need to concentrate on becoming better and living now instead of thinking about the past. If we’re true believers of God, the ills of the past don’t matter. The accounting sheet is balanced.
But, people can’t get over the past. It’s part of how we define ourselves for some reason.
I remember listening to the Democrat debate. What’s her name…. Warren… was going on and on about how she grew up, how much her parents meant to her, and how she developed a love for this country.
That is persuasive. She was trying to get people who share similar stores to support her. Course, we have no idea if what she said was true. There isn’t anyone around who could back up her story and, even if there was, they could be paid off.
And, at the time, Warren may have believed what she said was the truth when it wasn’t at all.
Course, then we have Biden talking about how children would sit on his lap and rub his hairy legs. That actually seems plausible — except for the lap part. I’d guess super hairy legs would be a Ripley’s Believe It or Not for some.
Either way, these people are letting their past define them. Whatever ills they may have done reflect on them now although they try to hide it.
Just as some people in society allow the past to define them and how they interact with others.
And it’s bad, right?
The past is in the past and the Great Redeemer handles all issues.
We just need to go on with being our own selves.
But who are we without a past?
