  • Panther Claws

Lately, there’s been a lot of hype over the new Black Panther movie.   Schools are taking classes to see it.   From what I’ve been told, pre-order tickets are as precious as adamantium.  It’s already on track to blow the recent beat up the recent Thor movie at the box office. All that’s great.   More power Read more

  • Outside Fuzzy

Once, several years ago, mom had several birdfeeders, ranging from plastic, to wood, to metal, filled with sunflower seeds and thistle seeds. I would sit on the front porch, surrounded by birdsong.   If I ever looked up from my laptop, blue jays, robins, assorted finches, and cardinals fought each other for position on the feeders.   Read more

  • It’s a new Era

A while ago, I wrote about NeoGaf, one of the original online game communities. Because of unforeseen circumstances….  that may or may not have been proven.  I’ve long stopped caring, if I ever did care, the community that was carefully cultivated and nurtured easily slipped into a new home:  ResetERA. In a way, it was Read more

  • Shrink me, Fran

In my head, psychologists are shrinks.  Grandmothers are battle axes.  Bras are bolder holders.   Childhood insight! I started to see a new shrink.   No, I don’t mean that in a negative way as some people may assume, but it’s not meant to be that way.   Think of shrink as someone who can shrink problems.   To Read more

  • Things I learned in Florida

    —   There’s a huge, huge, HUGE, difference between 24h and 48h deodorant.  In Indiana, I was using Dove 48h.   When I went to Florida, I started using Lady Speed Stick 24h protection.  Yeah… after about half a day outside, I started smelling pretty ripe and it wasn’t even that hot outside. —  A Starbucks mocha Read more

  • Disney – A 21st century fox

Foxes are generally considered cunning animals. Think of the fox from Zootopia.  Somewhere, under all that bravo, he had a good heart, but he usually acted on impulses of greed.  Other animals where easy and unwitting prey.  I suppose another soft-balled adaptation would be Disney’s Robin Hood.  That fox was hunted, cunning, and fairly prideful. • Withering of a branch

Growing up, my dad didn’t have a lot of things. He was raised in an orphanage, beaten by nuns, and abandoned by his father. One thing he did have was two sisters, dad being the oldest, and a strong desire for the family that he never had. One sister, my favorite aunt, died some 35 Read more

  • Selfish prayer

I stay in correspondence with one of my House sisters from last year.  She was with partially with me during my three month intensive stay and I like to think that we’ve grown closer after our ordeal than what we were during.   This woman is probably one of the most nice and devout Christians that Read more

  • Binging

Monday was the operation. I was kicked out of the hospital on Tuesday. Two weeks until I know if I’m 100% cancer free. —  I have a pretty good feeling about it.  I think I am. I’m just kind of owie right now.  The scar hurts.  The puncture wounds from the operation are tender and Read more

  • This day is a bit of a bust.

I had planned in my little head that I was going to the gym around 7am.  Hang out until 11ish.   Get something to eat and then catch Murder on the Orient Express.  The truck keys and Propel where right next to the door so I wouldn’t forget.   The movie started at 1:50. I consider this Read more
