Moderation:
The avoidance of extremes, rather related to behavior, political, financial, spiritual…
i.e. – don’t go overboard. don’t try to be perfect.
Just live as the world presents itself – try to find the fabled Truth
Cue music:
ya take the bad
ya take em both and thare ya have
The Facts of life, the facts of life

Okay – Yes, I’m old — and I hated that show.
The truth is – moderation is lip service only.
America does not practice moderation.
A business is successful or not successful.
A person is smart or not smart.
A person graduates or does not graduate.
Hell, even the actresses in that old show did not practice moderation. The character’s qualities where extreme and could be labeled so people could relate to them.
Even when America and Americans try to practice moderation, we can’t do it. A good example is WWII. Roosevelt did not want to go to extremes – join one side over the other. America, the famed world protector, had to abandon moderation and choose (understandably) a side after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
—— Once moderation was broken, America did not quit. Resources, lives, families, became sacrificial logs on the anti-moderation fire and, eventually, the war ended in fire – nuclear fire.
No, America does not know the meaning of moderation – we pursue our goals with a whole heart, regardless of the outcomes.
So how can the product of this society, including myself, practice moderation when the cultural definition is not understood? How could it be wrong to be take an extreme and become passionate about a person, hobby, or job?
Shouldn’t moderation be taken in moderation?
Is it wrong to be passionate and take things to the extreme?
Isn’t only practicing moderation anti-moderation?
Americans pursue goals passionately – or not at all.
We love someone – or not – there is no between.
We are successful – or not.
There is no gray area, but moderation is a fabled key to happiness and a satisfying life.
To defeat an eating disorder, food must be taken in moderation.
Passion is forbidden under moderation. Rather, to live in moderation, it almost seems that we have to abandon control.
“We take the good and take the bad…”
I don’t have to “take” anything I don’t want to.
I’m pretty passionate about having the ability to change my environment and myself (hopefully) for the better. Moderation is not for me.
Moderation is the enemy of living as passionate life – to such an extreme that it’s impossible to achieve.
Don’t live in moderation – be passionate – loving -daring. –
