Yesterday, Indiana started early voting for the quickly approaching November elections. This is a blessing – and a curse.
Blessing
– voters, such as those with busy schedules, physical concerns, or who are elderly, can conveniently chose s time, location, and will, hopefully avoid standing in long lines. Early voting encourages participation.
Curse
– the news will return to hiding the facts start (once again) on being “fair and balanced.” Presidential election years is nearly the only time when news companies are allowed to take off the silken glove and expose their claws. Why not? It draws viewers.
Speaking from a 6 year adjunct, I was continually non-surprised at the amount of people who considered Wiki, local newspapers, and advertisements to be truthful primary sources. Future nurses, business owners, and social workers would “” much “” rather check WEBMD or similar advertisement based cites for information.
—– Come on ——- Why, oh why, would you feel the need to devote funds and hours to attending college, only to turn in second-hand sources for info. How serious were these people?
Even my 11 week stay at the House was personally and highly alarming. Instead of watching the morning news, Cats 101, The Andy Griffith Show, and Golden Girls reigned supreme. The staff and clients felt little or no concern about the local going-ons or the Trump/Clinton drama. Watching the news for about five minutes before being called back to vitals became exceedingly precious to me. Unfortunately, the weather always seemed to preoccupy my critical 5 news minutes. At one point, I don’t know why I even kept trying.
I, of course, asked why the channel was changed, as I felt it was disrespectful. The first one up should have sovereign control of the remote at least for half an hour.
The three top reasons
– the news could be triggering (but, at the same time the House didn’t want to be overly protective. If anyone understands this, please let me know.)
– no one cared
– puppies and kittens were far more important
Who would have thought… Blanche > Trump? Don Knolls > Pence.
I wouldn’t. You’d at least think Betty White would have it rigged.
It’s more “fun” not to be informed.
It’s not as stressful.
No action required.
Big business can be trusted.
Really….. ?
