My life in song: — The lyrical version…
— When mom and dad worked all the time my theme song was “Bad to the Bone” followed closely by “Free Bird.”
Elementary/middle school – when I was being bulled and had no problems being mean right back my song was “Veteran of Psychic Wars” by Blue Oyster Cult. (Little did I know that song was influenced by a future favorite writer, Michael Moorcock.)
As a teenager, when I entered my Wiccan phase and had my spine operation looming, it changed to “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks.
That and “Angel, Angel Down Together We Go” by Morrissey.
Early college – “Bloodletting” and “Poisonous Garden” Concrete Blonde –
“All Hallows Eve” “Bloody Kisses” and “Summer Breeze” Hey, the Type O Negative CD was played — a lot — and Pete Steele was hot – even for me.
— Of course, there was a bout of Alanis Morrisette. Couldn’t be helped.
– Oh yeah! Lorana McKennet, Sarah McLachlan, and some other group. It bugs the heck out of me I can’t remember. When I do, I’ll update the blog.
When Jason and I started going out, we had a song… the original version of “I got you babe” from Sonny and Cher. That just seemed appropriate.
– This was closely followed by “You are my sunshine.” I used to sing it to him. =)
— When he and I attended college at the same time and then my work with his college, my song changed to Hollaback Girl from Gwen Stefani. Okay, I don’t know the lyrics outside of the main theme…
“This shit is bananas B-A-N-A-N-A That got me through my master paper!
— When Jason and I started to fall apart, my song changed to “Two out of three ain’t bad” by Meat Loaf. You might know this one… I want you.. I need you… but I’m never going to love you…
Now… I don’t think I have a song. It’s suspended. I really need to find one. I’m in a void. Being silent hurts.
I hope I can find help soon.
