Don't live the American dream. Live your dream.

September 12th

Unlike my sister,  I don’t tend to get massive migraines.
–  When she gets them, my little sis actually calls in sick and hides under the covers for about eight to ten hours.     I know it sounds silly, but she does.

And, just as a reminder of what she goes through, I got one today.

I was going about my semi-usual routine that I have when I have a day sans siblings.   Right about two – wham.

I actually had to sit down for a couple of minutes at the corner of Washington.  It starts as a small poke – poke – poke – before Athena really puts her back into it and starts slamming her sword into my skull.  For me, it’s always Athena.  I admire the goddess and it kind of romanticizes the whole crippling pain thing.  If I can add a story to something, it helps me get through it.

Four hours later — ta da!  It’s mostly done.  There’s still some lingering shock like sensations every now and again, but I guess (hope) Athena is at rest.

I can’t help but wonder if I didn’t overdo something.  My muscles, particularly legs, feel a bit creaky.  – Creaky like old and tired.   That’s a thing with me, as my dad liked to point out.    I don’t know when to quit.  –  This sounds like it could be a good thing, but the way he said it, it was a bad thing and right up there with “you don’t listen” and “I pity the man who falls in love with you.”

Nothing like dear ol’ dad.
I admire, respect, and love him, but he made living hard.

My course is going pretty well so far, I think/hope.    It’s mostly women with a couple of men.   The entire class, save one, wants to be nurses.   The odd ball wants to be an occupational therapist.  Their emails have been actually fairly respectful.   Somehow, I’m “Karen” this term, but I’ve been called worse.  I’m really encouraged by the early assignments that have come in.

Unlike the last class, these people know how to use hanging indents and cite! …. although some do MLA instead of APA, but I’m just happy they’re not plagiarizing.  Maybe there is a little hope for BS graduates.

They’re just a little slow on the discussion board.  I’m not going to pound them this week for not following the guidelines, but I will next week after an announcement.   I always try to give fair warning.   That way I can “I told you so” when they complain about their low grades.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to a lazy evening.
I’ll play GOW for a while, check on my ducks every now and then, and try to persuade myself to watch the new Castle Rock episode that just came out.

By – the – by, I was lucky enough to watch Searching yesterday.   Outside of the whole Apple/iPhone advertisement, it’s pretty good.   I liked the story.  =)

Have a good evening.
