Yesterday, I started to plot how I could walk home.
That’s from Florida to Indiana.
I didn’t let my braincells delve too deeply into it. I didn’t chart the milage or path or anything. Instead, I considered how much supplies I could carry and when would be the best season to leave and if night or day travel would be best. I started to think that taking the Appalacian Trail would be an option.
It might not be a direct line to where I’m going, but it’s hiker friendly. I may even be able to find some assistance. Besides, the Appalacian Trail sounds like someplace I’d like to go some day. Start in Georgia and work my way north. Why not?
What brought about these thoughts? The possible Biden win. Well, to be fair, it’s not really Biden. It’s a Harris win. Biden won’t last a year. I’m betting around six months and Harris will swoop in. Even if Biden isn’t dismissed from the office, he’ll be so… out of it that he’ll just be a figurehead. His wife will give him a lolly and pat him on his head.
Delta, Southwest, American Airlines and the rest are pretty much dead. Being global businesses, they took a global hit when people stopped flying. It would be a little bit of nothing for the government to buy them all and consolidate.
Then, poor people like me won’t be able to afford to fly or drive, for that matter. I can’t afford the future pollution tax that would be charged for usnig something with a combutable engine. The longing to see my family won’t be enough. Being an American won’t be enough.
So, being the pratical person I am, I considered walking up there. Outside of horse, which I have no idea to ride, and bike, there isn’t any other options.
The prospect of walking over 1000 miles isn’t as daunting to me as you think. As long as I have fair weather, food, and water, I think I’d be great. Actually, if anything, I may take the Billy route and wonder around for a bit in the middle of the forest and mountains.
I hope that it doesn’t come to that.
But, if it does, I’m prepared for it. Mentally, anyway.
So, yeah, I’ve had this heavy black rock in my stomache since the election. All of the media are pushing for Biden to declare victory. Democratic state governers declare that their voting process is fair and transparent. Even Biden is going to be on air in a couple of hours to… who knows? Mistake his wife for his sister?
So, no, I don’t feel the vote is legitimate.
The talking heads rattle on about a million different reasons why it isn’t. Trump says it’s not. Who can blame him, by the way? After all of the legal battles and bull hockey back stabbing, I’d question anything and everything too.
But, what really kind of gets me is — should Biden be a fair gentleman, he would show grace. He wouldn’t claim victory until all of the recounts are done. Until everything is verified.
If the U.S. is truly divided, declaring victory without exausting every option to show fairness is destructive. It just give the wronged half more reason to feel wrong. It can just drive the stake deeper into the heart.
Besides, the office doesn’t change hands until Janurary. What’s the rush?
If he truly wanted to listen to the will of the people, he would wait until the smoke clears to declare himself the winner.
If Biden was actually aware, this would be the way to go even if he is a loser. He needs to place his faith in the system that he claims to support.
….. which I doubt will happen.
Trump is being made out to be a sore loser who should pull up his ‘big boy pants.’ Biden, the long suffering hero, will take over for the big bad orange man. Trump is a man who has had to handle a really crappy past four years. I don’t think he deserves to be treated this way.
Even if Satan was president, it would be best for Biden to go forward with faith and honor instead of the way he is.
But, no.
I doubt that’s going to happen.
Biden will be president —- ahem — Harris — against the will of most of the people.
