Xenoblade Chronicals Definitive Edition- A girlfriend’s review

This game reminds me sooooo much of Everquest.
The Switch’s graphics strongly remind me of 1990 computer graphics.
(Better, certainly, but it’s not an oustanding life-awing change like AAA games from Sony
The mobs just seem to be a lazy take on existing animals.
Corpses disolving into treasure chests.
Searching for stupid stuff for colleciton quests.
Farming rare drops for zero personality NPCs.
Fractions…

.. It really kind of takes me back.

The character models and clothes are kind of Kingdom Hearts-ish, especially the male models. Alvis was just introduced in the story and I swear he could be related to Riku. Glowy eyes. The way they run.

It also seems like it’s an accessable RPG.
The characters are limited and tend (from what I can tell so far) have a unique traits will little overlapping. So, balanced groups – sort of.

Xeno games have a reputation for having a good story.
So far… a bit disappointed.
Alvis, I’m guessing, is Shulk. That’s probably a ‘twist.’
The girl who died in the first part of the game… Firona? … something like that isn’t really dead.

Big give-away — She could wear equipment.
Devs wouldn’t go through the extra effort creating a skill set, voice acting, and stats if she was dead dead. Also, we didn’t see her death but what we ‘thought’ could be her death. She was surrounded by mechs, sure, but where’s the body? After the invasion was over, there should have been some sort of remains for the characters to cry over.

I figured out The Sixth Sence within ten minutes. So, I’m pretty sure I’m right on this.

The bug question is which nepon becomes the fuzzy sidekick.
There always has to be an annoying sidekick/pet in these games that boss the other characters around.

Overall, I think this is a pretty easy-going game.
Just right to play after Doom Eternal.
