Don't live the American dream. Live your dream.

3/18 pt two.

The standanrd definition of racism:

Definition of racism

1: a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race

The definition of race are groups of humans divided into groups because of physical traits.
So, these are people who share particular qualities, like eye color, accent, and skin color.

Determinant isn’t a bad word.
Rather, it means to determine the nature of something or fixes a particular outcome.

— Racism means that determinant traits create an inheriant social superiority.

—————-

So, because Luke Skywalker was born into the Skywalker family (a race based on traits) and was the ‘chosen one’ (this would mean he fixes an outcome), Luke is racist — although he supposedly saved the entire galaxy.

Right?
Am I following that?

This topic really confuses me.

Acronyms (the abbreviation of words) is racist.
Math is.
The English Language
Fillabusters
Bubble Tea

I’m really not sure how those are racist.

I guess English is from Brittian which apart of Europe. But, not all Eurpoeans speak English as a primarily language.
There’s Italian, French, and Spanish, of course.

In America, English is recognized as the primary language, but that’s not America.
So, by using the English language, Americans are identifying themselves with the British? English is a determinant as it determines the nature of communication?

But, English isn’t forced on everyone in America.
It’s helpful to know it, of course, but I’ve met several Americans who speak Spanish. They probably know as much about English as I do about Spanish.

I don’t think a langage creates social superiority. Right now, someone who can effectively speak multiple languages tends to be more favored and better paid. Being multi-lingual is a goal. Indulging only in the English language can be a limitiation. If it’s a limitation, it’s not promoting any type of superiority. Is it?

Ian Miles Cheong on Twitter: “Twitter teaches me a lot. For instance I didn’t realize that Bubble Tea, which comes from Taiwan, was actually stolen from Black women. Asians now owe reparations to all Black owned businesses. https://t.co/pckVRiviDT” / Twitter

— So…. wha?
A business that produces an item created in another country is racist because…. the staff isn’t Afrian-American?
But, they didn’t invent bubble tea.

African Americans invented the wooden golf tee, electric elevator, and refridgerated trucks — among other things.

So, is white ice cream man who overharges for drumstics racist because he uses a refridgerated truck?
If I buy a frozen dinner at Wal-Mart, am I racist or just lazy?

Honestly, I try to be open-minded.
I like to really tear apart the nitty gritty — which is why I like to watch movies and read. The known and unknown ideas and connections provide brain stimulous for weeks. I like to think that it helps me with my students as well.

How can something which is widely used and sold to make profit, racist?
Elevators, which help thousands of people every day, could be considered racist?

Some things, I understand but others… I just don’t.
