Don't live the American dream. Live your dream.

My jaw hurts.

The dentist needled in one injection of pain killer – which didn’t do the trick.
I could feel the drill.

So, she double-downed to make me numb and tingly.
The second dose kind of worked and she wen ahead with the drilling, scraping, and whatever to clean out my cavity.

But now, some six hours later, my jaw has this dull throbbing pain. I can’t really open my mouth and makes yawning the torture of the day. I hate to see what it’d be like if I sneezed. Still, it’s really kept me quiet. I haven’t been able to upset anyone today a whole lot. Good for the world, I guess.

Other than that, things are pretty okay.
Students didn’t yell at me. The next class is ready.

I’m trying not to let the Oscars weigh on me too much.

You know, when I was a kid, I liked the Oscars.
I didn’t know much about the actors or the catagories, but I didn’t care. I bought into the glitzy marketing. Famous people were getting excited and I wanted to see them excited. At that point in time, I naively thought that they deserved it. They made people happy through movies (which I saw as an art from even way back then) and they deserved to be happy.

I also think it made me feel kind of adult-ish.
I’d get some popcorn and soda — probably Big Red. Big Red was my favorite when I was little. And settle in for a super long award show that I’d probably fall asleep sometime during the back half. Dern, it was long and so much filler.

To be clear, I didn’t really pay attention to the actors, actresses, movies… whatever. I wasn’t that star struck. I just wanted to watch the show.

Now… serious meh.
And beyond meh. This is hypocritical.

Actors, actresses, writers… the whole Hollywood subculture is riddled with left-leaning millionaires. They’re for Biden. Against Trump. Pro gun-control. Against the electorial college. You get the idea. I don’t have to go into it.

But, at the core, they are for socialism. Eat the rich.

They are the rich. We, the little people, made them rich. No matter how much they worked, scraped, and pined for that one role that would project them into stardom, it was us who did it.

Without us, they’d be nothing and Hollywood wouldn’t exist.

It’s a parasite. They suck our money and time to survive.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, which is made of retired actors, professionals, and whatever, decide who gets the awards. They decide who is nominated which is a transparent allegory (I don’t know if allegory is the word I’m looking for here) to the Electorial College.

Unlike the governement, the Academy members aren’t elected by the populous. But, they do decide by their own twisted standards what counts as art and what doesn’t. What is good and what isn’t. Americans vote with their money and view rates. That doesn’t matter.

However, like the Electorial College, the Academy members can be swayed with bribes, threats, and promises. Their emotions and prersonal ties get the best of them. They’re making a decision to tell us, the paying public, what’s good and what’s not good.

If we don’t like what they like, we’re low-browed superhero watching neanderthals.

Bribed, emotional, thick-headed, and ‘better than thou’ people decide what wins and, to a lessening degree, what shapes our culture.

All of these actors support the electorial college that is the Academy without question. Or, if there are questions, they’re handled with chocholate and wine in the months leading to this decript show.

The Electorial College, which is elected by the little people, is considered to be an outdated system because it doesn’t always go their way.

To me, that’s hypocritical.
If they’re for the Academy, they should be for the College since each organization serves the same function. It’s just the College has a significantly larger impact on our laws and policies.

If they really really want the Electorial College to vanish, I think celebrities should abandon the Oscars, Golden Globes, and all of that other fluff that only serves to continually remind us of the devide between them and us.

Let the people vote and decide as to what art is.

I guarentee it’s not what the high-brows force feed us.

I don’t see the Academy going anywhere.
There’s too much money and fame in it despite the dropping number of people who actually watch this crap. The Electorial College will vanish before the Oscars to simply ensure that the few get what they want while the rest of us become soylent green.

—- Side thought — Why isn’t the Academy elected by the people?
Wouldn’t that be something? The movies could be their political campaign. The better the movie is, the more likely they would be elected into the Academy.
Who am I kidding? They’d definitly stuff the ballot boxes. The votes wouldn’t matter anyway – which is exactly what they’re trying to do with us by attacking the College.

Well, one of the ways they’re taking away people’s rights.
Not the only way, but that’d be a big hurdle.

Anyway, hypocrites.
