Gabs’ mind’s eye was fading.
The lapsing darkness felt like water creeping into her skin through her pores, through her body.
A feeling of surrender, truth, and peace.
She took a deep breath and cracked her eyes. With red-rimmed sight, she stared up, concentrating on the sensual slithering. It moved more inward and upward as it was now at her chest, entering her lungs, and placing pressure on her heart.
It would be over soon. She was doing this for Aldren, somehow.
Gabs focused on a pinpoint of light. It was small, distant, but steady. The only reason why it wavered was because of her.
But, why? She was enough. Why was she doing this for Aldren? What was this? Something was missing.
Her mind sparked and the light from the star started to bleed into her brain.
Aldren was her light.
Should she fade, that light would no longer be possible.
Aldren shines bright enough. He did not need her darkness to define him. Rather, he needed her light to help guide and strengthen. Her sacrifice was not needed.
It would only be her and him. Saddy, the darkness, nothing would take away her love and he would see.
She had to fight and shine.
Dark tentacles had started to curl around the outside of her brain just underneath her skull. They started to push inward, slicing into the gray matter leaving deep canyons in their wake.
Gabs’ nose started to bleed as panic filled her causing her heart to beat wildly against the pulsing invader.
But, her emotion, her reactions, her reason, her thoughts, did nothing.
The invader, dark and silent, continued to strip her essence from her body. It shuttered, taking one last gasp before a new entity emerged.
