Don't live the American dream. Live your dream.

5/27

I tend to write more when I’m in Indiana.

I think that’s because some of my worries are poof.
I’m not worried about the water bill or the electric bill.   I feel comfortable getting something to eat.  The family doesn’t get on me too much about it and I know enough to stay away from baby brother’s baloney and bacon.

…. not that I’d eat that anyway – baloney and bacon.

I’m not deeply aware of what’s going on in the news.    If I want companionship, I can just watch some anime with my siblings or call mom into the kitchen.  If I don’t want to talk to anyone, that’s perfectly fine too.

I keep my room dim and a little cool.   That way, it minimizes headaches and my hot flashes aren’t so distracting.  A little bit of good music and I’m good.

I really need to have a room set up like this in Florida.

Kind of like a sacred space or something.

I mean, writing can be pretty personal and I’m excellent at letting myself become distracted.

A few days ago, Bo-Becca sent a list of questions in an effort to get to know me better.  Or, rather, we get to know each other better.

Although, I’m just a shade insulted.

A person isn’t based on a list.
If anything, the answers to the list could change at any time and unfounded conclusions can be drawn from it.  For example, people who like purple may not really be all that haughty.   The color blue doesn’t mean the person is calm.

Anyway, I’m playing along and came up with some questions for her as well.
We’re supposed to answer them.

So, I’ll answer them here and copy her the results.
Not a biggy, I guess.
I suppose it’s natural to be curious about the circumstantial stuff.
That’s the stuff public school children ask each other.   I guess.

I don’t know but I feel like I’m putting my foot in my mouth.

So, the questions:

1. What are your favorite colors?
—   It kind of depends on my mood.    Green, black, purple, blue, and brown tend to be constants, but I don’t mind pink, yellow, and gray.
2. Do you like to wear jewelry? If so, what kind?
—  I wear and own limited jewelry.   I’m pretty picky as I prefer to wear something that has attachments to the past, sentimental value, or is made from real gemstones and metal.I particularly detest ‘man-made’ gemstones.  They are supposedly perfect in color, shape, and clarity.

I would much rather have a flawed stone from the earth that something perfect from man.

3. What is your favorite genre of book/movie/music?
—   Depends on the mood.    I like horror, science-fiction, and even some rom-coms.   I like biographies, psychological explorations, and anime.I just watch/read/listen to whatever I’m fond of.

4. What are your hobbies?
—  I don’t really have any.   Not really.
I don’t collect specific items or have something that I indulge in on a regular basis. There’s a lot of things that I would like to make into a hobby, such as travel and gardening, but don’t really have the funds for that.   I play games sometimes.

5. What scents do you like? Do you wear them (lotion or perfume) and/or like candles/potpourri?
—  I tend not to wear perfume.    It used to cause my dad headaches when I was a girl and never really wore any as an adult.   I don’t think Jason likes it either.I don’t mind burning a candle every now and then or using perfumed lotion or body spray.    Personal preferences are something musky or fresh.    I don’t get along well with fruit or floral.

I tend to stay away from potpourri.
It gives me headaches.

6. Do you like to wear nail polish?
—  Yep, but I don’t paint my own nails.
When I do, it doesn’t last and I tend to make a mess.Because of how much I type, it’s a gel mani or bust.

7. Where in the US/world would you like to visit?
—   Easy.
Everywhere. And I don’t mean like a couple of days visit.   Like a month or more to really get the feel for the place.

Top of the list (don’t ask why):
– Japan
– Chattanooga Tennesee.
– Angel Falls and Iguazu Falls
– Middle of Mexico
– All of Europe
–  The place where the Hobbit was filmed.

8. Do you like art (to do yourself or look at)?
–  I can’t draw.  But, like my tastes in colors, I’m appreciative of all sorts of art, regardless of the form.
9. Do you like animals, either as pets or in general? Favorite animal?
–  I have an appreciation for animals as pets and in general.   I think they’re taken for granted.    I become more upset over a story of an animal being abused than a human.

Acceptions:
Roaches
—  anything that bites or stings.   I think I’m a bit allergic to certain types of bug venom.

10. Do you have any collections?
—  I have a collection of Hello Kitty plushes Jason bought for me.     He also gave me some Harley Quinn items.
A long long long time ago, I had a fondness for San Francisco music boxes, but that company went out of business ages ago.  Before my house was destroyed, I had a collection of carousel horses, but that was a ** very ** long time ago.

I haven’t collected anything in mass for a long time.

11.  Do you like concerts?

—  Typically, yes.
12. Who/what is your favorite band?
—  Don’t really have one, but there are some that I’ve been listening to for twenty years or more like:

Classical music
Gaming music
Enya
Sarah McLauchlin
There’s some more but I forget the names right now.

13. Do you play an instrument?
—  Nope!   I laid down my drum sticks back in middle school.

14. Why did you choose your profession?
—  I think it was kind of an accident, really.   After ten years at Knology, I wanted to do something with the degree I spent six years of my life earning.  So, I went back to college again, and here I am.

15. What and why is your favorite period of history?
—  The one right now, pre-Covid.
I’m just super fond of indoor plumbing.

I like some of the qualities of other time periods… but plumbing

16. If you could be any age for eternity, what age would you be?  (Keeping what you know now)
—  I would forever be 19.

17. What is your favorite place to eat out?
—  I like Wendy’s, Montana Mikes, and, you know, the normal type places.

But, I especially appreciate the small businesses.  I think a lot of heart goes into small eateries.

18. How has COVID changed how you view the world?
—  If anything, it has just made me more cynical and a bit saddened.
Too much detail to go into here.
