Don't live the American dream. Live your dream.

12/31

I think a lot of people are going to be happy to see this year ends.
Masks.. curbside pickup… hand sanitizer… lost work… lost businesses… toilet paper shortage… the election… lives put on hold… personal liberties infringed…

It’s closure.
People are seeking closure above all else – good or bad – they want a new start.
Those who have survived tragity know that they can survive it again, if needed. But, it’s got to end before we know we’ve survived. Hence, closure.

But, New Years Eve and Day are manmade constructions.
It evolved over time from calendars. It’s little more than a square on a calender.
It’s not an end. It’s just time to buy a new calender.

There is no ‘safe.’

Tinkerbell isn’t going to wave her magic wand and make all this just go away.
— Although, I really wish it could just vanish.

But, it won’t and it’s not fair if it does.
The struggles shouldn’t be trivilzed.
I think the best example is placing someone into a nursing home. The people, their lives, loves, and dreams are just filed away. They’re dead in people’s minds although they’re still living.

It makes the transition easier.
It’s a fallacy — self-denial – attempting to remove accountability.
Every situation is different, certainly, but it’s not right to treat something that’s alive dead.

The problems of 2020 are still very much alive.

Biden and his administration just might be better at hiding them.
Along with our power to disbelieve and find closure, their job won’t be hard to accomplish.

‘Normal’ is a baseline that each of us set.
And, although difficult, it can be flexible.

2020 isn’t dead.
It’s not gone.

Normal is going to keep changing until we don’t recognize it. But, we won’t care because it’s normal.
Well, most won’t care.

Just don’t become lulled into thinking that the challenges are dead.
They’re not. They’re still very real.
2021 isn’t going to be a magical resurection.

It’s just a date on an outdated calendar created by flawed beings.
