In my last post, I made a claim that the tradwife trend is a trauma response to the increasingly fake and hollow society that is being carefully constructed by 3D bricks.
I want to expand on that a bit and clarify.
From the beginning, I’m thinking of ‘trauma’ as an emotional response that violates someone’s ability to cope. Traumatic situations can be caused by sharp or long-term distress, fear, grief, shock, loss, and medical issues. Even passively watching something happen could cause trauma.
They cause feelings of helplessness, distrust, anger, denial, and PTSD.
For example, a small dog with a sharp, loud bark could affect a child. Since the dog is small, the child may find it non-threatening. However, the sharp, loud bark could scare the child, and it’s unexpected.
That child could have a traumatic response to small animals and sharp, loud noises.
The ill-fated 911 traumatised America. When the Towers collapsed, the fear, loss, and unexpectedness impacted the nation.
America’s traumatic response was to develop a fear of Muslims, a resurgence of patriotism, and increased security.
——- That last one, increased security, ushered in Big Brother, the TSA, and increased surveillance. That was actually weaponized against Americans, as now we have biometrics, the CIA reading our text messages, and the government watchlist.
The Twin Towers bombing made the ever-increasing privacy violations easier to swallow, at first, because of the trauma.
Anyway… um… The past years have induced trauma in Americans. There are changes all the time in a society. If it doesn’t change, it’s dead.
But some changes aren’t as traumatizing.
Cars, for example. When Henry Ford started churning out the Model T, assembly lines were coupled with the Industrial Revolution.
– Big change. But I’d rank it low on the trauma scale. It was a change in development, not in fundamentals.
** Women joining the workforce. That’s traumatic. It changed a fundamental family building block. Women were expected to ‘do it all,’ and were told it was a personal failing if they couldn’t be wife, mother, and employee.
Children came home to empty houses and stressed parents.
Men’s traditional provider role probably made them feel like they were ineffective if the woman had to work.
Family units became less structured.
Divorce rose.
The market opened for ultra-processed foods to become more dominant cause no one had time to cook – and now no one knows * how * to cook.
This led to mental health issues, the cost of housing and other items increasing, and increased physical ailments.
Trauma begets trauma begets trauma.
Fast forward to today — All of that plus social media, AI, shitty job economy, increased prescription of antidepressants, politics….
The tradwife trend is a combo.
COVID actually provided some groundwork. Again, COVID caused national trauma and, to help cope, people spent silly money on sourdough starters and hand-churning butter.
Instead of just being depressed and defeated, Americans attempted to cope by returning to traditional activities.
Skip forward – Additional trauma from the woke movement, Me Too, body positivity, and betrayal by corporate society pillars (Target, Harley, John Deere, Busch, etc.). combined with the COVID sourdough coping and —
Ta da
— Tradwife.
——– As well as returning to the analog mindset — Wired earbuds and journals instead of Bluetooth and tablets.
——– Corporate America, never to allow a crisis to be wasted, is more than happy to market a product. The same $5 wired earbuds from 1985 are now $200.
So… of course…. the tradwife trend can also be taken too far and become a trauma in itself.
Which means back the other way society will swing.
I hope this helps clarify my reasoning — although I don’t think anyone asked.
I appreciate these thought exercises.
I * really * need to get out of my head. It’s scary in here, and these help.
But what’s even more helpful is to start a dialog.
Questions?
Agree with me? Don’t?
I don’t care, honestly.
But I enjoy the interaction and the thinking behind it. The thinking that I may have to do.
So, reach out if you want.
